A Little Bit About Art's
Art’s Old Town Bicycle Repair is located in the heart of the North Wheeling Historic District. It is housed in one half of a duplex structure built in 1843 by Arthur M. Phillips for his children. Mr. Phillips owned and operated a foundry along the banks of the Ohio River just below the structure where he manufactured steam engines for river boats.
When it comes to bicycles and bicycle repair or bicycle commuting, touring, recreational riding or sport, it has been and continues to be a passion of mine, at least since 1989. That passion combined with an interest in tinkering passed on to me by my father and my own ever-growing technical curiosity has led me to have a goal of someday opening up a bicycle repair shop. Which is where I am now.
I am excited to start my second career and to be able to set up shop not only in a structure and neighborhood rich in history, but also only a quarter mile from the Wheeling Heritage Bicycle Trail. More importantly, I am looking forward to providing bicycle repair service for the current and future cycling communities - from seasoned cyclists to beginners and all levels in between.
Services
Art’s Old Town Bicycle Repair is a full-service bicycle repair shop offering services ranging from tune-up and general maintenance to specialty work on drive train components, wheels, brakes, hubs and headsets.
We keep in stock a wide selection of consumable items such as tubes, brake pads, chains or cables. Other types of specialty components needed for your repair would have to be ordered with delivery to the shop in one to three days.
Please note: Work on e-bikes is limited to mechanical type repairs. I do not service electrical components or motors. In addition, the ability to handle mechanical work on large e-bikes is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
We also have an inventory of most typical cycling accessories. Again, if you don't see it, ask as we could have it available in one to three days.
Art's is also glad to offer limited Wheeling Heritage Trail-side repairs and limited bicycle repair pick-up and delivery.
